Dating in a Sweet shop. Soft centreDating in a Sweet shop. by *bared
hard centre
dark or white?
Sweet or bitter
chunky or light?
One with wrappings
or one plain loose?
Fresh off the shelf,
but excitingly new?
Or a tried and tested
mature and ripe?
Well past its sell-by,
but just your type?
All are delicious
in the sweet shop, I hear...
This delectable choice of candy
resides in your computer
right now, right here!

The Joys of Custard. Some get a kickThe Joys of Custard. by *bared
from booze and birds
some get lost in
words and verse.
Some choose to fly
mountain high
while others gorge
on pies 'n' fries.
But mates I have a secret
it's a quick fix I know,
it's some Saturday night sunshine
and comes served in a bowl.
It slides down a welcome treat
like molten comfort all replete,
it can even fight the blues away
and keeps those hunger pangs
miles at bay!
Lumpy and cold
runny and hot,
packet or tinned
it matters
not!
Slurp it
spoon it
let it dribble down your chin,
whose going to know
the state you'll get in?
So,

A blue Monday. Like leaded weightsA blue Monday. by *bared
his hooded eyes
bore down upon
darkened shadows,
curtaining a grief
which contained
no bounds,
reason or logic.
He felt helpless.
Apathy had taken its grip,
but this time
its refusal begged
not, to be shaken.

Broken man. She spread her words thickBroken man. by *bared
rolling them up
in a rug of black treacle
to unfold somewhere
within his tangled soul
and leaving him
her sticky aftertaste
like bitter syrup,
fearing him to tread
where, once
they had lain -
two lovers in love,
threading life's desires together
on a beautiful tapestry
woven of pure silken dreams.
So why did he stay,
now, that she had broken him?
